Farmer Jane Review

By kristi
07/22/2008
My grandparents were farmers and my dad always had interesting stories about growing up and working on a farm. I think that really shaped my perspective of how much hard work goes into farming and made me appreciate the produce we can so easily access at our local store. I hope my son, Max, will grow to understand and appreciate his agricultural roots. And even though he is growing up in the city, that he will learn about all that goes into bringing him the food that he eats everyday.

Playing the new game, Farmer Jane, brought back memories of visiting my grandparents on their farm. If a game can do that, it gets high marks in my book. The graphics are great, creating a little more of a 3-D look to the characters. You also get to choose your character to play and customize the clothing, which is a nice touch. There are many upgrade options as well that really help but also make the game more challenging at the same time. Also, there is a chance that every now and then you can produce a special crop that will yield you more money.

This game definitely poses a challenge to keep up with all the demands of farming and managing to get the products in the customers hands in a timely manner. If you are a fan of time management games or just looking to try something new, definitely give Farmer Jane a try!

Brain Challenge Review

By jasper

If you're into the kind of games that test your brain skills, this one is for you. I enjoyed a lot of the challenges - they have these "stress" challenges where they introduce annoying bugs or a wolf is trying to eat a sheep. It definitely makes it harder. The trick with these games is using your periphery vision and learning to filter out the misleading information. Check it out - it will definitely test the gray matter.

PictoWords Review

By cecelia
07/13/2008
Since I retired, all my days begin about the same, which is fine with me. I guess you could say I have become a creature of habit. First, at least 3 cups of coffee to get me started. Then walk the dog. A few household chores and then turn on the computer to do my daily puzzles. I enjoy all kinds of puzzles. I take a puzzle book with me to the Doctor’s office to help pass the time. So when I saw the new game Picto word I had to try it out.

At first I thought it was going to be a version of the old T.V. show Concentration, but it is a little different. You make words instead of phrases. It is kind of confusing at first and the directions they give you are not very clear. But hang in there and you will soon catch on. There are pictures and letters that you must put together in a certain way to make a word. After you play a few rounds there are bonus rounds where you make phrases.

The time really flies by when you play this game. My trial run was over way to soon. I can't wait to try the full version of this game. We are supposed to exercise our brain everyday as well as our bodies and this is a great way to do it and have fun at the same time. Do your brain a favor and try this game - you won't be disappointed.

Fun Defense Game: Harvest Massive Encounter Review

By zavy

If you are looking for something different, Harvest Massive Encounter may be for you. In this game you must defend your resource gathering colony from successive waves of UFO attacks. The nice thing about the game is there are many different modes of play that range from insane to creative where the UFOs do not attack at all. Download the trial and try it out.

There's also a walkthrough I put together which has some great tips if you get stuck.

Fitness Frenzy Review

By kristi
07/08/2008
I love going to the gym. I don't go as often as I should, but when I do, I'm always very glad that I did. Especially now that I'm a mom I really appreciate the time I spend there. The gym I go to has a supervised play area for kids, which Max thoroughly enjoys. So I get some uninterrupted time to focus on burning off some stress and hopefully some of those lingering pounds from baby weight.

Fitness Frenzy seemed like a great game to try since I always have such positive experiences at the real thing. And the game didn't disappoint! In this game, you play the character, Vicki, who is trying to start her own chain of gyms. She has a strong passion for helping others enjoy healthy living. I love how she encourages her customers to press on when that are struggling to keep up with their fitness regime. I loved being able to play her character. I could so use someone like her in my real life fitness goals! But alas, she is animated. And speaking of, the animation is great in this game! It is so cute to see the customers all use each of the workout equipment. They are actually shown exercising on them, and even sweating on them (which you have to go clean up afterwards, but I guess that's all part of the job).

Fitness Frenzy is a great time management game and lots of fun. I highly recommend giving it a try. And, hey, you might even burn some calories with all those mouse clicks!

Jewel Match Review

By cecelia
07/05/2008
Hi, my name is Cecelia and I live in northern California with my dog Lulu, cat Baby and a small turtle, Shelly (who is our guest for the summer while my granddaughter is away). My job here, as Anne and Jasper tell me, is to review games for you from time to time from a senior point of view. I am in my 60’s so I feel I meet the qualifications.

Right now I am addicted to Match 3 games. My favorite is Jewel Match - not to be confused with Jewel Quest, which is also a great game. One of the reasons Jewel Match is so good is the graphics. The Jewels are big, beautiful bold colors that are easy to see. No squinting needed here. The cursor is small and easy to maneuver. You don’t have to drag things around, just click.

The game seems too easy at first, but don’t be fooled. The game gets harder as you move along into the higher levels. There are chains to break, bigger areas to cover, and tiles that seem to come out of nowhere. I haven’t even gotten close to the end of this game although I have spent many a pleasant hour playing. This game is really fun and you can get lost in it. Try it out. I think you will really enjoy yourself.

Hidden Expedition Amazon Cheats and Walkthrough

By anne

I managed to squeeze in another game guide before I pack up and head to PA for a week to visit my cousins. Cross your fingers the storms out there go away so I'm not cooped up inside all week with my younger cousins…

My volunteer work at Homeboys is so rewarding - it feels great to know you might be helping to change someone's life. I really think that all large cities should incorporate this type of program; maybe then we could make a change in today's youth before it's too late. While the internship at LA Times is interesting, it's not quite as rewarding. But then again, I don't actually get to write articles for print, I'm more of a assistant but it's still interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes. But enough about me and on to the game guides!

When I saw the release of Hidden Expedition: Amazon, I just had to write a guide for it. This is the third game in the series and as always, features spectacular graphics, great game play, and excellent storyline. The puzzles are challenging but if you find them too difficult, that's why I wrote a game guide! In this installment you play the part of a great adventurer who is trying to find a missing professor and the lost Beetle (not Beatles, heehaw) Temple. Sounds a bit bizarre, perhaps, but makes for a great story with a very humorous Professor and a great excuse to immerse you the sights and sounds of... the Amazon!

You probably won't hear from me for a few weeks but I promise to find some time to bring you another guide when I get back. There is some promising new HOG coming out soon that I'll be watching closely. If you have any games you'd like to see guides for, don't hesitate to a-mail us and ask - we'll do our best to fulfill your gaming needs!

Wishing everyone from the United States a Happy 4th! Be safe!

Wedding Dash 2 Review

By kristi
06/30/2008
My little boy, Max, was the ring bearer in wedding this weekend. He looked so adorable in his little three-piece tux! It's amazing they can make those so small. He was a little nervous but he took his responsibilities very seriously, and he did a great job! Weddings are so great, so much excitement and energy around them. And it's fun to see the couple put some of their personalities and backgrounds into the various aspects of the wedding. Our friends really did that well this past weekend.

So when I started playing Wedding Dash 2: Rings Around the World this weekend, I already had weddings on my mind. And the game lived up to my expectations. It focuses on the reception instead of the ceremony, but you get to pick the decorations and the menu. And you need to try and cater to each couple's taste and personality. Then when the reception starts, you need to make sure the guests sit where they want and next to the people they want. And of course you need to make sure they are well fed. Afterward, if all is done right, they'll get up on the dance floor and boogie down the rest of the night.

Wedding Dash 2 definitely does not disappoint. The graphics are very cute; they all have their own style of dance moves. And the variety of options for planning the event are a lot of fun. The back story also adds another element of game play, since you are having to compete with other wedding coordinators to win a contest. I would recommend giving Wedding Dash 2 a try. It will definitely keep you on your toes!
